From Porta Cristina to Piazza Yenne on foot
Tour through the ancient Castello district. Expect seven centuries of architecture and stunning viewpoints over the city.

Route (Start: Porta Cristina — End: Piazza Yenne)
1. Porta Cristina — Start point From here you look west over the ancient Roman district of Stampace.
2. Piazza Indipendenza — 2 min On the square you can see the former Archaeological Museum, the Pankratius Tower and the college of Archbishop Esquivel.
4. Piazza Marfalda di Savoia — 1 min View of Palazzo Onnis with a partially still legible inscription from the Fascist era.
5. Stopp: Pablo Café — 1 min Have a Marocchino here (the best in Sardinia)
6. Piazzetta Mercede Mundula — 2 min Wonderful viewpoint over the east side of the city
7. Palazzo Vice Regio — 2 min The royal palace can also be visited inside.
8. Cattedrale di Cagliari — 2 min Beautiful 13th‑century Gothic church with Baroque interior. Highlights: the crypt of the martyrs, bell tower, altar with silver candelabra and silver tabernacle.
9. Antico Palazzo di Città — 1 min The old town hall often hosts exhibitions.
10. Via del Fossario — 4 min Lovely viewpoint over the south side of the city.
11. Bastione di Saint Remy — 4–6 min Viewpoint over the harbor and Piazza Costituzione.
12. Torre dell’Elefante — 3–5 min You can visit the tower for a fee and enjoy the breathtaking view over the harbor and salt pans.
13. Finish: Piazza Yenne — 6–10 min
Total walking time (without breaks/visits): approx. 50–80 minutes.

– Many sites are in the historic Castello quarter; expect cobblestones and stairs — sturdy footwear recommended.
